Robyn Warfield first started out in theatre as everyone else does, high school shows and drama clubs. Having grown up in NYC, and seeing various broadway shows and after realizing that lighting was not only fun but something that she could turn into a career, she started looking into college programs that suited her needs well. She stumbled upon this tiny liberal arts college tucked into the Berkshire mountains of North Western Massachusetts called Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. While studying there she had many opportunities to learn and stretch her craft.
While in college she worked events such as NYC Hot 97 Summer Jam at the former Giants Stadium in Rutherford NJ, Divas with Heart benefit concert at Radio CIty Music Hall and interned at Mass MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art). She held various positions on shows in college ranging from Master Electrician, Special Effects Coordinator, Technical Director, and Lighting Designer (both of which held at the same time on one show). In her senior year of college she was the lighting designer on 7 different shows that ranged from romances, comedies, musicals, Shakespeare, and dance.
She studied for two years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design candidate. With concentrations in lighting and scenery, some works she designed are Peter Pan, The Marriage of Figaro and Hedda Gabler including various others. She received her MFA in the spring of 2014.
Professionally she has worked at the Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth NH as the Master Electrician and Carpenter, The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ in Madison NJ as the Lighting Assistant to the Lighting and Sound Supervisor, New Stage in Pittsfield MA as Stage Manager and Light Board Operator, Lighting Designer for Paper Lantern Theatre Company in Winston-Salem NC, Lighting Designer for the Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Meredith NH, Lighting Designer for First Maria LLC in NYC, Lighting Designer for Community Access to the Arts in Great Barrington MA, Lighting Designer for The Ark Theatre Company in Egremont MA, Shakespeare and Company in Lenox MA as Lighting Designer, Master Electrician, Associate Scenic Charge and Production Assistant, Wardrobe Supervisor as well as Production Designer for the Fall Festival of Shakespeare and the Winter Residency at Charlemont Academy, Lighting Designer for Berkshire Dance Theatre in Adams MA, and 3 years as the Lighting Director for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Dance Company.
Currently she is the Resident Lighting Designer and Master Electrician at the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte in Charlotte, NC.
