This particular show was quite a challenge. It is a show that has just two actors in it, but who also who sit for the entirety of the 80 min that it runs for. This production also threw in the bonus of the two actors sitting on a revolve that spun the whole time at a low speed.
I had to create the atmosphere of a train car that was traveling throughout the day while also capturing the inner monologue of the characters who were spinning of the revolve. Because they were seated, the actors needed to find alternative ways to engage the audience, which meant that I needed to be clever in how I was able to light them from all sides using a rep plot that was built for the thrust stage that we had for this summer season. With the use of 5 S4 Revolutions and a few lights adds, I was able to capture the beauty of the two characters on their quest to finally talk face to face with each other rather than to themselves.
